John
McCumber is a strategic program manager in the Public
Sector Group of Symantec Corporation. He is currently
involved in research and development activities in
support of leading edge government information assurance
initiatives.
John is a retired US Air Force officer and former
Cryptologic Fellow of the National Security Agency.
During his military career, John also served in the
Defense Information Systems Agency and on the Joint
Staff at the Pentagon as Information Warfare Officer
during the Persian Gulf War.

In addition to his professional responsibilities at
Symantec Corporation, John is currently a Professorial
Lecturer in Information Security at The George
Washington University in Washington, DC and is technical
editor and a monthly columnist for Security Technology
and Design magazine. John is the author of Assessing and
Managing Security Risk in IT Systems: a Structured
Methodology from Auerbach Publications. He lives in
Oakton, Virginia and Cary, North Carolina. |

Mauricio Sanchez |

Mauricio
Sanchez is the Chief Network Security Architect for
ProCurve Networking by HP, responsible for specifying
ProCurve’s ProActive Defense security technology
strategy across all product lines. He also assists in
the design of security capabilities into ProCurve
products and solutions.
Sanchez currently represents ProCurve in both IETF and
TCG/TNC standards bodies. In the IETF, he has edited and
co-authored a number of standards that improve RADIUS
attributes, especially its ability to provision network
access control (NAC) policy. In the TNC, he is the lead
in defining the IF-PEP interface that resides between a
network access server and a policy enforcement device.
In addition, in conjunction with researchers from HP
Labs, he was pivotal in the design of Virus Throttle
technology and its incorporation into ProCurve products.
Sanchez joined ProCurve in 2000 as a Software
Development Engineer, designing and developing switch
fabric ASIC verification tools. He quickly expanded his
focus from the low-level domain to the security domain,
leading the design and implementation of several
management security protocols included in ProCurve
products. Since then, he has gained broad experience in
the ongoing effort to meld network and security
technologies that together are establishing the next
generation in enterprise networking. Prior to ProCurve,
he worked on network-attached storage devices at IPG. He
also worked as a graduate research student for 3Com
while in graduate school.
Sanchez holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer
Engineering and a Master’s of Science degree in
Electrical Engineering from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.
He is registered as a CISSP and has 11 security-related
patents pending.

Lisa
Lorenzin is a Principal Solutions Architect with Juniper
Networks, specializing in security solutions, and a
contributing member of Trusted Network Connect (TNC), a
work group of the Trusted Computing Group (TCG) that
defines an open architecture
and standards for endpoint integrity and network access
control. She has worked in a variety of Internet-related
roles for the past 13 years, with more than a decade of
that focused on network and information security.
Lorenzin's experience in data center, government and
enterprise environments, as well as her active
participation and service in local user groups, has
brought her a thorough understanding of the
challenges network administrators and users face in
today's world of expanding regulations and increasing
security threats.

Patrick
Wheeler is senior manager for Endpoint Compliance
solutions at Symantec, where he leverages more than
eights years of product management and software
development experience. In his current role, Wheeler
drives the development and delivery of the company’s
market-leading Endpoint Security solutions. He also
works closely with enterprise customers to understand
and address their security challenges.
Before joining Symantec’s Endpoint Security business
unit, Wheeler served as a product manager at Symantec,
Qualys, and Internet Security Systems (ISS), where he
has worked with solutions addressing the range of
enterprise security challenges, from network intrusion
prevention to vulnerability assessment to
enterprise-level security data management.
Wheeler speaks on Network Access control and endpoint
security topics. Wheeler holds a BA from Rutgers
University as well as a PhD from Emory University.

As
Chief Strategy Officer, Alan Shimel is responsible for
guiding StillSecure® on its mission to bring innovative
and effective networking and security solutions to the
marketplace.
Mr. Shimel has become an often-cited personality in the
security community. Through his blog and weekly podcast,
found at www.stillsecureafteralltheseyears.com, his
commentary on the state of security and the marketplace
is closely followed within the industry. Additionally,
Mr. Shimel is active in the open source community,
serving as a director of the Open Source Snort Rules
Consortium (OSSRC) and founding the OS2A. He is a
sought-after speaker at industry conferences and events.
Prior to co-founding StillSecure, Mr. Shimel has had a
wide range of business experiences. He was most recently
SVP of Sales and Business Development of Cachier®, a
manufacturer of network acceleration appliances. Prior
to that, he was VP of Business Development at Interliant®,
where in a little more than 3 years he was instrumental
in forging relationships and strategic partnerships with
such industry players as, Dell Computer®; Verisign®,
Microsoft®; IBM®; Cisco®; and EMC®. He was also a key
team member when Interliant acquired 27 companies and
completed a successful IPO. A pioneer in the Internet
industry, Shimel was one of the founders of Tri Star
Web®, a NYC-based, early entry in Web hosting that was
acquired by Sage Networks®, which later became
Interliant.
Mr. Shimel is a graduate of St. Johns University with a
Bachelor of Arts in Government and Politics, and holds a
JD degree from NY Law School. |

Garry McCracken brings more than 23
years data communications and information security
experience to WinMagic Inc. Responsible for the
development of WinMagic's full-disk encryption solutions
for desktops, laptops, and PDAs, McCracken provides
proven management expertise in technical support, sales,
service, and, product development. Prior to working at
WinMagic, McCracken was vice President at Kasten Chase,
a publicly traded technology company, where he played a
key role in assuring the company's compliance with
strict security standards imposed by the Canadian and
International Industrial Security Directorate. He was
also made significant contributions to the company's
research and development program, custom development
services, and its ISO-9001 certified quality system.
McCracken has worked many projects with influential
security organizations including the Canadian
Communications Security Establishment and, in particular
managing the development of RASP Data Security solutions
for the U.S. National Security Agency..
McCracken holds an Honours, Co-op, Bachelor of
Mathematics degree in Computer Science from the
University of Waterloo. He furthered his education by
successfully completing CATA's Certified Advanced
Technology Manager program, writing the BS 7799-2
Information Security Management System Auditor exam, and
obtaining the Certified Information Systems Security
Professional (CISSP) designation from (ISC)2. McCracken
is married with three children, and resides in Brampton,
Ontario, Canada.

Dean
Bushmiller has had fun for the last twenty years
learning and teaching everything he can in technology
and security. His consulting experience in accounting
systems, inventory control, migrations, and patch
management has breathed life into his twelve years in
the classroom. Dean is a courseware developer who
specializes in CISSP® and patch management.
Dean is the project manager and main subject matter
expert for both version 8 and 9 of the material for
(ISC)2's official courseware. He is a member
of (ISC)2,
ISACA, and CISecurity. He is proud to be a recipient of
the DISA/FSO, CJ35 and the Airforce 92IOS mission coins.
Dean is a chapter author in the Information Security
Management Handbook. Very little of this would have been

Andre
Kindness is a Product Manager for ProCurve Networking by
HP. He is responsible for defining and guiding the
strategic direction of ProCurve’s mobility and security
solution portfolios, managing the entire product
lifecycle from conception to introduction to evolution.
Kindness joined HP in 2000 as a Business Planner, where
he advanced ProCurve’s industry-leading price points by
balancing business risks and rewards, while developing
new processes and IT infrastructure. Before joining HP,
Kindness held various engineering roles at Gencorp,
including Project Manager and Project Engineer. He was
also responsible for a team of
engineers, chemists, supply chain and quality/production
personnel at a major aerospace contractor specializing
in the development of crucial space exploration
technologies.
Kindness holds a Bachelor of Science degree in
Mechanical Engineering and Material Science and
Engineering, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in
Aeronautical Science and Engineering, from University of
California, Davis. |

Andrew Klein |

Andrew
Klein is an invited industry speaker on the technical
and business aspects of the tricks and trends in email
security. With more than 20 years of software
development and product management experience, his
current focus is eradicating the scourge of spam and
phishing from inboxes everywhere.
Mr. Klein came to SonicWALL via its acquisition of
MailFrontier. He has instrumental in building the
SonicWALL GRID Network – a real-time world-wide email
reputation system. He also pioneered the SonicWALL
“Phishing IQ Test” which has been taken by nearly 1
Million people around the world and continues to provide
valuable insights into end-user interaction with
phishing email.
Mr. Klein’s recent speaking and web cast engagements
include the FTC Spam Summit, ISSA, SANS, InfoSecurity
NY, the Security Leadership Conference Series, RSA,
ITEC, the MIT Spam Conference, NPR (Justice Talking) and
the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco.

Neal Hamilton, Technical
Consultant for ProCurve Networking, provides technical
leadership to channel partners and key end user accounts
in the southeast. He oversees new product introductions,
training, and on-going technical development in this
geography.
Neal joined HP in 2005. His 29 year experience in
networking ranges from pulling cable with AT&T Long
Lines to designing and implementing large scale
international networks. Prior to HP Neal worked as the
Network Architect for RSA, Lead Systems Engineer for
Nortel’s Carrier Packet division, Lead Network Planner
for Wachovia Bank where he designed the bank’s first IP
based branch network, and a Consultant at AT&T designing
WANs for large retail and banking customers including
Lowe’s, BP, and Repsol. In addition, Neal provided
technical leadership and mentoring while holding various
management positions at ITT and Racal-Datacom.
Over the years Neal served in the USMC, attained dozens
of network certifications as well as earning his BS and
MS degrees in Economics.

Randy Hunt, Packeteer CSE Manager for
the Eastern US based out of Ft. Lauderdale, FL has been
working in the IT industry for over 18 years. Starting
as a Network Engineer for privately owned companies, he
has moved into an emerging market helping define Quality
of Service for organizations across the globe. His
position at Packeteer, a global leader in WAN
Application Delivery and WAN Optimization, started as a
Territory Engineer and he now manages a team of
engineers developing and deploying customer focused
solutions based on the Packeteer product line.
Randy joined Packeteer in the fall of 2000. His 8 years
experience provides a wealth of knowledge as to where
Packeteer started and where the company is headed into
the future. He has a continued focus on customer needs,
understanding of application performance problems over
Wide Area Networks and how businesses use their wide
area infrastructure.
Randy is a Capricorn, enjoys an exceptional glass of red
wine, fine cigars and catching early morning breakers
off the beaches in Ft. Lauderdale. He is also an avid
fisherman, and occasionally gets the opportunity to
entertain customers who dare to venture offshore for big
game fishing. |

Ken
Draper has spent the past 20 years in the networking
industry, and has focused on security solutions for the
past 11 years. He is CISSP-certified and holds numerous
other certifications. Ken has worked at such networking
equipment manufacturers as Infotron, Gandalf, Synoptics,
Bay Networks, Nortel, NetScreen, and now Juniper
Networks.
He has more than six years of experience with ScreenOS
and large-scale security solutions, and has held a
variety of technical engineering positions including
systems engineer and solutions architect.
Ken is currently a Juniper Networks Consulting Engineer
specializing in the large-scale virtual private network
(VPN), firewall, intrusion prevention, and centralized
management markets. Ken is also the co-author of the
popular "ScreenOS Cookbook", an advanced guide for the
Juniper firewall products. |
